penguins are here!
they weren't here last yr, since the sea ice never receded far enough into the bay. now the sea ice is already only 15miles away, so the little adelies are already waddling inland. only saw them once. they came in the day before the tractor train left for the south pole traverse. (they're building a road to pole)
skuas are here as well. it's freaking weird seeing birds. 
 
latest news i guess is that i have patella-femoral syndrome in my right knee which is a bugger and also tendonitis in my wrists from scrubbing pots and pans.  i wear these arm braces under my gloves so it gives me a rash and i make $4.15/hour. go me. 
 
i still love it here. i can't wait to be something else other than a dishwasher. 
 
it's gonna be weird to see a tree when i get back to nz. 
 
but anyway, here's a pic of the goofy little toddler looking birds. and me busting my ass as a manual pinsetter in the bowling alley. 
 
i got the packages from jackierandaljulian, and blue, and dang, and hil. thank you all so much! i was queen for the day and everyone gathered round to admire my plethora of silly presents from the upperworld.
